If you are looking for a way to improve your health, have fun and make new friends, Salsa could be the answer! Salsa Siempre put fun at the top of the agenda, and whether you have two left feet, or the dance skills of Fred Astaire or Patrick Swayze, you can learn to Salsa!
Salsa Siempre was established in 2004 and is run by Carol Hoey, a UKA qualified Salsa dance teacher. Along with her enthusiastic support team of teachers and coaches, Carol welcomes pupils at any level and helps them to develop their dance skills at their own pace and ensure lots of fun along the way!
Carol has a fun attitude to her teaching, but makes sure everything is clearly explained with plenty of opportunity to practice so everyone can feel confident about their new-found skills. She can also draw on her technical knowledge from her achievements in Ballroom and Latin American dancing, where she achieved Gold Star medals and also came 6th in the UK Disco Dance Championship. After spending many years teaching Modern Jive, Carol found it a natural transition to move onto the Salsa scene and is able to help more confident dancers push onto higher levels. Her enthusiasm to teach is very apparent and a wacky sense of humour ensures that everybody leaves with a smile!!
Beginners are taught in a progressive eight week course, which gives them the opportunity to become comfortable with the basic moves and footwork, before moving on to the Improvers' Class. Even if you have never danced before, you are welcome to come and learn.
Classes are just part of a fun and sociable evening and dancers can stay after the class to practise and socialise. Although Salsa is a partner dance, you do not need to bring a partner, (although if you have one, do!) as people rotate during the class. Many people have developed great friendships and even met their partners through Salsa, and it can also be a great community event, bringing together people who might not normally mix. We also offer a range of extra events in addition to the classes – check out the ‘Events’ section for more details.
Salsa dancing has its origins from Cuba, with its sensual and pulsating rhythms, spreading into New York in the 1970's with the Hispanic communities. Salsa has now branched all over the world and has become one of the most popular dance styles here in the UK.
As with any form of dance, Salsa is going to improve your health. Dancing helps burn off fat and is a great cardiovascular activity. It also helps reduce your chances of developing high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Salsa is a particularly great idea if you are looking for something to supplement an exercise or diet programme, and with the release of endorphins, Salsa can also help relieve the stresses of everyday life!!
Salsa is great for team building at any function, be it business or pleasure. Why have a normal Birthday party when you can have a Latin themed one? The perfect wedding dance, why not impress all your guests?
Whatever the occasion we are available for any kind of private function, whether it is an hour class, a Salsa dance demonstration, Salsa DJ or an entire evening’s entertainment.
